Great picture quality but Dolby Vision needs work!

Bought this a few weeks ago with the updated firmware that supports Dolby Vision. Overall great image quality. The set is a bit basic in bulid and much smaller that the UBP-X800 with no digital display or screen on the set. However one huge advatange is that with a firmware update it supports Dolby Vision. This is, however SEVERELY hampered - unfortunately, the unit does not auto-switch when you play a Dolby Vision disc which means that a) the switching has to be done manually from the menu and b) if you don’t know a disc has Dolby Vision and you don't therefore activate it in the menu, you miss out on the benefits (it can be quite difficult to see on Blu Ray discs whether a Dolby Vision signal is included) Sony - this could be an excellent product... please come up with a firmware update that auto-switches Dolby Vision on when it detects a Dolby Vision signal!!

NEEDS HDR AUTO SWITCHING

I love my x700 player. The picture quality on Dolby Vision titles is AMAZING; however, the Dolby Vision feature must be manually switched off for non Dolby Vison titles (HDR 10 or non HDR video), and back on for the Dolby Vision titles. If turned on the Dolby Vision feature with a non Dolby Vision movie, the picture does not look its best. Some movies with Dolby Vision don't even show on the box if the movie is in Dolby Vision (so I don't know if I should turn the feature on or off). Sony NEEDS to in the future update its filmware so the x700 can detect when a blur ray is playing a non hdr image, an hdr 10 image, and a Dolby vision image.

I've had this player for some time and when it comes to playing new 4K disc it freezes during playback. Very frustrating!

Me esperaba más no sé por qué este blue ray 4k ultra no trae aplicaciones que dice traer en algunas reseñas no las trae y después tengo un Problema conectado a la barra de sonido Sony HT-A 5000 por HDMI y la barra a la TV hace cosas muy raras cuando voy a reproducir una película empieza siempre saliendo se del HDMI y volviendo a los tres cuatro segundos luego dice ser lector de disco en 3D y me dice cuando pongo la película que no es compatible el reproductor son muchas cositas hay botones del mando que no sirven para nada ya que no ejecutan nada

Brought the newer version which was cheaper, but still not as good as this model from 2018.... Unless you go up to the £300 + mark...this is the best one...even the cheaper Panasonic wasn't as good.

Tried at least 5 different dvds but the player just kept crashing. Couldn't get more than 10 minutes into a movie! And these weren't old battered dvds either, some were brand new. Tried messing about with settings but it made zero difference

Easy to use + great picture & sound

Used for a few 4K Blu Rays now, and seems to do the job nicely - all the films so far have been big, loud productions, and the player handles them well for the most part. The visuals are crisp and the sound has impact - I'm just finding that once, maybe twice in a film, the sound will stutter for about a 10th of second, but maybe that's just with particularly 'big' films.

Needed to replace my surround sound dvd player thought I would try Blu-ray player so far so good. The only negative I is there is no display of how long you have been watching a film.

Reproduce correctamente todo tipo de contenidos: CD Audio, SACD, CD File (mp3/mp4/mkv/avi), DVD y Blu-Ray. La calidad de imagen es buena, y hace muy buen trabajo con los videos de baja resolución, de forma que se pueden ver en pantalla grande muy decentemente (como un DVD). Es muy silencioso y para escuchar música es perfecto. Las opciones de configuración son suficientes para cualquier propósito. Las aplicaciones y el contenido online se lo podían haber ahorrado, sin embargo resulta útil que sea actualizable por internet.

The UPB-X700 player has a sleek design which will match most audio visual equipment. Standard Blu-Ray discs give excellent colour, audio and picture detail. DVD's also display well and the ability to upscale is definitely a bonus feature. All in all - a perfect addition to my Sony Bravia TV.
